BEGINNING GEM TREES

Create your own tree with craft wire and gemstones.  Discuss different techniques, where to find materials, etc.

Design trees based on nature’s patterns.  Explore different techniques and materials.

VIKING KNIT BRACELET

Make a bracelet using this ancient method of weaving wire into a tube.

Very beginning chain maille class, learn about different metals used for jump rings, the correct way to open / close jump rings while making a cool bead, chain and jump ring bracelet.

If possible, bring your own tools: flat, chain nose and round pliers.  A few sets of tools available for use in class.  All materials will be provided in “kit” and some additional components can be purchased.  Practice wire will be furnished.

MAKE YOUR OWN JUMP RINGS  - Staff

Learn how to make jump rings the size and shape you need.  Practice sawing and working with wire.  To practice soldering jump rings, please plan to attend soldering workshop.

No need to pre-register,

$1.00 for wire, handouts, etc.

 

SILVER SOLDERING WORKSHOP – Staff

Watch demo, then practice soldering different types of joints.  Use copper, “hard” solder and propane torch or mini torch as needed.

Bring your own materials if desired

Sterling bezel available at cost.

Use heavy copper wire and a hammer; annealing as needed, to create a masculine or feminine bracelet.  Several patterns will be shown or develop your own.

If possible, bring safety glasses and plan to tie long hair back.

FREEFORM CASTING SILVER

Learn how to use scrap silver to create one-of-a-kind shapes and then finish them to be unique jewelry items. 

·      You can observe at no cost. 

·      No limit for number observing.

·      Instructor’s decisions are final.

Hands-on, using ½ ounce silver: $30.00

Additional silver available at cost.

Those casting must have safety glasses, wear cotton pants – no shorts and no sandals!  Plan to attend all 3 hours.

Create unique fused glass with the special diachroic glass.  Kits with chain, bails will be available at cost to make into a pendant.  Fired glass must cool!  Pick up projects at the end of day.

FACETING  SEMINAR & Demos

Midwest Faceters Guild will be holding classes and workshops for those registered with them in advance.   Times will be posted in lobby when anyone can watch demonstration to see how precious stones are cut & polished.
